Tuesday - Tortuguero Return to San Jose

Another sunny day! Early breakfast, boat leaves at 9:00. We cruise upstream for about an hour (12 miles), getting back to Rancho La Povona, the "Grand Central" boat dock. Quite an operation. This is where the boats from lots of resort properties in Tortuguero come to meet their buses back to San Jose. The boats all plan to arrive around 11:00, everybody has lunch and the coaches arrive about 1:00, full of a new bunch of travelers who take said boats back to the Tortuguero resorts. This happens every day!

On an early morning walk today around Evergreen I came across White Faced Capuchin monkeys, a Toucan, Flycatcher, Spider Monkeys, Green Frog, Cayman. The Howler Monkeys could be heard across the channel. We saw a SLOTH (a.k.a. " a blob in a tree") at Racnho La Povona...a rare sighting!

Evergreen is very interesting resort. Comfortable rooms, great food, pool, friendly staff. But the humidity is unbearable! Everything wet/damp. Our suitcase will be a smelly mess when we get home.

As we drive through San Jose on our way back to the hotel, looking out the bus window, it is not a very attractive place. Graffiti, litter, traffic, everything behind bars and razor wire. Doesn't make one want to come back.

Tomorrow we head for the airport at 4:30 AM. Ugh!!
